STEPS students, with learning difficulties or disabilities, and the STEPS teaching staff raisedover £500 with a sponsored swim in aid of the Breast Cancer Campaign in June.

The learners voted to for the charity they wanted to support and spent an hour in the pool at the Bury St Edmunds leisure centre to raise money. Spectators were allowed in free to encourage the swimmers and sign up for sponsorship.

STEPS lecturer Marianne Beamish said: “Thanks to the fantastic support from family and friends we have raised a super amount for this worthwhile charity. The students really covered some distance and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.  They are proud to have helped other people. Thanks, too, to Abbeycroft Leisure for the use of the pool.”
