Brian Tunbridge accepts the award

The College won the cup for Best Non-Agricultural Trade Stand at the South Suffolk Show at Ampton Racecourse in May. This is the fourth time in five years that the College has won this award.

The College stand, decorated with banners and bright red balloons, offered hands-on experience for young and old, including face-painting for children and delicious toffee apples, prepared by young chefs on a Hospitality course.

Visitors could try their hand at carpentry to construct a bird box, decorate the box by painting it with a stencil design, or learn how to lay bricks to make an arch.

Staff dealt with 137 enquiries for courses at the College, ranging from Apprenticeships to Services to Business and Adult Education.

The College also contributed entertainment from E0.45 Dance, Year 1 and Year 2 BTEC National Diploma Dance students, who performed several routines in the Countryside Arena.

The dances had been choreographed by students themselves. Their innovative, physical performances drew on diverse sources, styles and techniques.

The South Suffolk Show is a one day agricultural show which caters for a wide range of tastes and all age groups, with cattle, sheep, pigs, horses and an array of attractions which, this year, included the Royal Artillery Motorcycle Display Team, a Gundog Display and a classic car show by the West Suffolk Motor Club.
