The first Archery competition for students and staff at the College was a real success.
The competition was part of a series of Intramural Sport (Intra) competitions, designed to encourage students of all sporting abilities, especially those who might miss out on team selection, to participate in semi-competitive sport.
Each contestant had nine shots. The highest scoring student was Josh Windsor, scoring 55 points with his nine arrows. The highest scorer among the staff members was Peter Green, who scored 72 points.
FE Sports Coordinator Neil Gilmore said: “Huge thanks to Billy Wappett, who supervised the competition. Students Jamie Johnson, Shane Smith and Natalie Webb, who are College Sports leaders, helped out with the scoring and the general organisation of the competition. I would also like to thank everyone who took part.”
Intramural Sport is a scheme to promote participation and help develop friendships between students across different disciplines through sport.
Neil Gilmore has organised a number of Intra competitions since Easter, with support from Youth Sport Trust. Sports covered include netball, basketball and 6-a-side football.
