Skills for Life Employer Engagement - Off Site Provision
What We Do
The Skills for Life department is dedicated to providing professional and friendly service to local employers to help engage and up-skill members of staff and guide them towards achieving qualifications and certifications in the following areas:
- Maths and English
- ICT - covering all aspects of the Microsoft Office software
- ESOL - English for Speakers of Other Languages
Who is it aimed at?
Our courses are designed to engage adults with a variety of needs; we typically offer help in these areas:
- To improve promotion prospects
- For people wishing to gain entry to higher level qualifications
- To update old skills and gain a new certificate
- To gain confidence and prove to yourself that you can achieve Maths and English qualifications
- For parents wanting to help their children with homework
Courses Available
Numeracy and Literacy
The National Test in Numeracy and Literacy provides adults with the opportunity to achieve GCSE equivalent qualifications by working at their own pace with support from our qualified tutors in a variety of formats including:
- Individual or group activities on work premises
- Individual or group activities at a West Suffolk College learning centre
- On-line flexible learning programme - Target Skills Gold - provided with full tutor support
We can help with all aspects of each subject, including those tricky areas...
Fractions, Decimals, Percentages, Spelling, Grammar, Punctuation
Using our exam server laptop system we are able to offer all our students the opportunity to achieve certificates in their chosen subjects.
ICT
Our ICT element is an add-on to the National Tests, allowing students on these courses the opportunities to improve their computer skills along with their Numeracy and Literacy.
We offer eDCC* accreditation and create bespoke learning resources to meet the needs of individual students.
We typically cover the following subjects:
- Word Processing
- Excel Spreadsheets
- Graphs and Charts
- Presentation
