Portable Appliance Testing

Please be aware that this qualification will be affected by the recent amendment to the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671:2008 (July 2011)). This information sheet will be updated as soon as we have further clarification from City & Guilds.

 

Introduction

The objectives of the course are:

  • To understand the legal requirements for in service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment
  • To know the construction and classification of equipment
  • To be able to demonstrate various relevant tests and to identify different types of test results
  • To correctly interpret test results

 

Who is the course for?

The course is intended for electricians and other skilled personnel in the Inspection and Testing of electrical equipment.

 

What will I learn on this course?

Course content includes:

  • Introduction to code of practice for in Service Inspection and Testing in Electrical Equipment
  • Equipment types and classifications
  • Inspection and Testing, use of equipment
  • Record systems, types of records
  • Practical Q&A sesssions

 

Certification

Two types of qualifications are available:

The certificate of competence for the management of electrical equipment maintenance is for managers and administrators with responsibility for maintenance and testing of electrical equipment. The certificate of competence for the inspection and testing of electrical equipment is for those who undertake the relevant inspection and testing of electrical equipment.

Candidates will be entered for both the online City and Guilds 2377 exams.

Duration

Training = 2 days
Online exam = 2 exams

Tuesdays 17 April & Tuesday 24 April 2012 - 9.00am to 5.00pm - Online exam: Dates to be confirmed (9.30am to 11.00am and 1.30pm to 2.30pm)

 

Price

£385 (Inclusive of exam fees, a copy of the Code of Practice for Testing Electrical Equipment text book, lunch and tea/coffee)
