Designed for

This programme is designed to address the needs of experienced trainers who wish to gain a nationally recognised qualification.  Candidates will benefit in a number of ways from completing this programme, including gaining recognition for what they do a work, evaluating their own performance and learning and developing new skills.  Candidates should be in work and fulfilling a role which enables them to generate the evidence needed to compile a portfolio.  Candidates may use the units from this award to work towards another Learning and Development qualification in the same suite.

Course Content

Candidates have to complete 12 units in total.

The candidate is required to complete 7 mandatory units :

• Contribute to learning within an organisation
• Evaluate and develop own practice
• Evaluate and improve learning and development programmes
• Agree learning programmes with learners
• Design learning programmes
• Manage the contribution of other people to the learning process
• Create a climate that promotes learning

PLUS either:

• Identify the learning and development needs of the organisation
• Identify individual learning aims and programmes

PLUS 4 optional units:

• Assess candidates' using a range of methods
• Assess candidates' performance through observation
• Enable group learning
• Support learners by mentoring in the workplace
• Support and advise individual learners
• Respond to changes in learning and development
• Plan how to provide basic skills in the workplace
• Introduce training for basic skills in the workplace
• Prepare and develop resources to support learning
• Conduct internal quality assurance of the learning process
• Provide learning and development in international settings
