ILEX Professional Certificate and Diploma in Law

Qualification

ILEX Level 3 Professional Certificatein Law and ILEX Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law.

Summary

This is a programme designed for anyone wishing to develop a career in law or for anyone already working in a solicitor's or executive practice who wishes to gain a qualification and advance their career opportunities.

Course Content

Teaching is based on a lecture/seminar model, using ILEX-created books and materials, and students are prepared for professional examination by working extensively on previous examination questions.

The ILEX Level 3 course prepares for examinations set by the Institution of Legal Executives: there are examinations in two study skills and three in law and practice to achieve the Certificate and a further five examinations in law and practice in year two to achieve the Diploma.

Progression

Students may wish to progress to the Level 6 course. On successful completion of Levels 3 and 6, students may apply for enrolment into the Membership grade of ILEX.

The ultimate goal is to achieve the full qualification of Fellowship of ILEX, to be referred to as a Legal Executive. Thereafter it is possible to take further modules and become a Solicitor.

Entry Requirements

Students under 21 years of age should usually have at least four GCSEs at grade C or above, or their equivalent, in approved subjects including English Language or English Literature. At least two of the other subjects must be academic. Applicants aged over 21 years or over can apply as mature students without formal qualifications.
