Build with CaRe -
Mainstreaming Energy Efficiency in the Built Environment
About the project
Build with CaRe (Carbon Reduction) aims to work with a wide range of construction industry organisations across northern Europe in order to make energy-efficient building design the mainstream. Local and regional authorities, universities and institutes from 10 regions in 5 countries in the North Sea Region are active in the Build with CaRe partnership. The project, which started in 2008 and concludes in 2011, is partly financed by the Interreg IV B North Sea Programme.
West Suffolk College is a partner in the project and will focus particularly on the development of information and learning materials in relation to energy efficient buildings. During the project seminars and workshops will be held to inform builders and students of the developments in building systems and techniques.
The effort to reduce human impact on climate change is strongly prioritised by the EU. Since buildings structures account for 40% of EU’s energy consumption, success in energy efficient building is key to achieving the EU goals.
Despite tested and available technologies and pricing, energy use in the built environment continues to be much higher than necessary. Build with CaRe will take the necessary steps, in collaboration with the building sector, to develop a transnational strategy for increasing energy efficiency in building. Energy efficiency is no longer an ‘if-question’, but a ‘how-question’.
Build with CaRe provides the partners the forum and tools for importing and exchanging knowledge and experiences. It provides professional networks, a forum for new ideas and latest insights, best practices and critical reviews of local actions.
Build with CaRe also aims to improve the competitiveness of the North Sea Region by stimulating different clusters to maintain a leading position in the aim for sustainable building techniques and technologies.
