Health and Social Care Apprentices at the College carried off three awards at the first ever Suffolk NHS, County Workforce Group Apprenticeship and Mentoring Awards Ceremony in July.
Julie Dargan from Bury St Edmunds, won the 19-24 Advanced Apprentice of the Year award. Beverley Grimsey from Sudbury won the 25+ Apprentice of the Year award. Sarah Kirk from Thetford won the 25+ Advanced Apprentice award. All three award winners are employed by the West Suffolk Hospital NHS Trust, and are completing the ‘Working in the Health Sector’ framework.
There was an extra surprise for Sarah, who was presented with the Apprentice of the Year Award at the end of the ceremony.
Andrew Goodall, Apprenticeship manager at the College, said: “None of the recipients was aware that the judging panel also awarded an overall Apprentice of the Year Award. Sarah was a deserving winner.”
Mr Goodall accepted a Certificate of Recognition for the work West Suffolk College is doing with the Suffolk County Workforce Group in promoting and supporting apprenticeships in the NHS across Suffolk.
He said: “I was very pleased to accept the Certificate on behalf of the College and especially the Employer Responsive Team. We currently have 40 apprentices within the NHS across the county.”
