
The hotel and catering industry is one of the largest industries for employment. Work can range from guest houses, restaurants to cruise liners. There are a wide range of qualifications within hospitality such as Professional Cookery, Hospitality, Food and Drink Service, Food Processing and Cooking and Hospitality Multi-skilled Services.
Course Aims:
- To provide apprentices with the practical skills and knowledge required to work in hospitality.
Entry Requirements:
- Apprenticeships are available from the age of 16 with no upper age restriction
- Appropriate employment
- Interview and Assessment
Course Content:
- NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Professional Cookery, Hospitality, Food and Drink Service, Food Processing and Cookery and Multi-skilled Services
- 100% work based for all qualifications, excluding Professional Cookery where college attendance is required
- Completion of Food Hygiene (fees apply)
- Key skills in Application of Number and Communication (levels vary dependant on qualification)
Assessment:
- The majority of the hospitality qualifications are delivered in the work place, however Professional Cookery requires college attendance on 1 day a week for 2 years. Apprentices will also be visited in the work place by an assessor every 6-8 weeks.
